Bonsai all the time

I had to do some bonsai stuff this weekend as well. It just doesn't feel right if I don't. :-)

So first Jože and me went to tvo of my bonsai buddies, David and Bojan, who live a bit over an hour drive avay from my place. There we discussed some bonsai stuff over a nice cup of coffee. We also agreed on a trade or two.

Their yamadori collection is quite good and in between you can find some really fine trees.

Ofcourse they also have a few finished ones, of nearly finished ones.

When we arrived back to my place, we had some work done on Jože's trees. All after lunch that is.

And later we were working on some of mine trees. There's allways something to do in bonsai. And it should be like that.

EBA 2012, Ljubljana - New talent contest

I have to finish the last chapter of this years' EBA in Slovenia. The New talent contest. It happened on Saturday morning. I think most of us will remember it by the unexpected, unreasonable decisions on the final top 3 trees.

Roland Petek represented Slovenia. I really liked his tree, but it didn't get to the top.

Roland's finidhed tree.

And this, belive it or not, is the winning tree. Monaco.

Second - Austria.

Third - Belgium.

By most people that I asked, this was the favorit and best tree. Also by me. It didn't make it to top 3...

And here are some details from the winning tree. No other words needed I think...

EBA 2012, Ljubljana - Other demos

Here are some photos of the other demonstrations.

Kevin Willson was working on an olive and a yew.

Rajko Podgornik Reš finished a spruce.

Liporace was working both days on pines.

The sune was trully strong in the demonstration room.

EBA 2012, Ljubljana - Demo Tony Tickle

Besides the exhibition there were three demos going one. One was performed by Kevin Willson, the second by S. Liporace and one by Tony tickle who was assisted by me.

In this post I'll show you the work I and Tony did.  We were working on a mugo pine of mine, which I had for over three years now.

Before working.

Only wiring left.

The finished tree - for now. It doesn't look that refined, but the branches have menny new buds inner on the branches, so the pads will fill out fast.
